Two shutouts – and by all rights, it should have been three.

Arlington Heights 27, Paschal 0

#16 Texas Christian 30, at UVirginia 14

at UBuffalo 27, UPittsburgh 54

at #13 Oklahoma 64, Idaho State 0

at #22 Nebraska 38, Arkansas St 9

Dallas 34, at Tampa Bay 21

Once again, a Heights game was held up because of storms in the area – this time until 13:00 hours on Saturday.

Once the game got underway, though, Heights runners went for 158 yards on the ground and the defense gave the Panthers fits.

This really didn’t come as much of a surprise, though I wish UBuffalo had kept it a bit closer.&#160 But four UBeefalo turnovers pretty much killed any chance of an upset.

Zach Maynard was a terror through the air, going 24-35 for 400 yards.&#160 They needed it, as the Bull ground game was nonexistent.

Only in Nebraska can a college football team give up a total of 12 points in two games and the coach still be pissed.

Seemingly never-satisifed Nebraska coach Bo Pelini called his defense “soft” after a season-opening 49-3 win over Florida Atlantic. He said Saturday that the Huskers still aren’t playing up to his standards as they prepare to go on the road for the first time.

Well, they gave up nearly 300 yards to a Division II team, so he may have a point.

Zac Lee is playing well, though.&#160 He was 30-41 for 358 yards and four touchdowns as the Huskers rolled up nearly 500 yards total.

Well, it wasn’t every down – there were 44 rushing attempts for 278 yards – but Landry Jones comported himself well, completing 18 of 32 for 286 and three touchdowns.

OU has now won 25 straight home games since falling to TCU back in 2005.

Speaking of which – the Frogs played pretty much like you’d expect in their first game under the new co-offensive-coordinator (Jarrett Anderson & Justin Fuente) system – at least, for the first quarter.

Which is to say, not good.&#160 The ESPN squawkers called it “rust”.&#160 I call it “trying to tell your ass from a hole in the ground with a new offense”.

Once the Frogs warmed to the task, though, they were all but unstoppable.&#160 Dalton was 15-21 for only 177, but 30 of those came on a post to Jimmy Young.

The Frog defense picked up where it left off from last year, shutting down a Virginia offense that itself was only in its second game.&#160 The Cavaliers Wahoos gashed the Frogs early, and probably should have stayed with that for awhile – but the spread offense is a passing attack, and such an offense that struggled against William & Mary last week certainly wasn’t going to make a dent in last year’s top-five-rated defense.&#160 And, save for a couple of late touchdowns long after the matter had been decided, they didn’t.

Joseph Turner, Ed Wesley and Matthew Tucker split 30 carries evenly for the Tadpoles, combining for 154 yards and a touchdown.

It’s a good thing Romo had the aerial attack going.&#160 The Buccaneers were going through the Dallas defense like crap through a goose.

Tampa Bay was gashing the Cowboys at will pretty much the entire game.&#160 Cadillac Williams and Dedric Ward combined on 25 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns (part of a 174-yard day for TB), oftentimes carrying multiple Cowboys on their backs.

Byron Leftwich was 25 of 41 for 276 yards, and only towards the end of the game was Dallas able to get anything resembling pressure on him.

But Romo threw touchdown bombs of 42 yards (Miles Ausin), 66 yards (Roy Williams) and 80 yards (Patrick Crayton) as part of a 16-27-353 day – his best ever.&#160 Marion Barber & Felix Jones combined for 101 yards on 20 carries.

Here are the notes:

* Off-season acquisition Gerald Sensabaugh pays dividends immediately with a blocked FG attempt in the 1Q

* Dallas run defense is stopping exactly nothing&#160 right now.

TB gashing them up the middle at will.&#160 Thought that was supposed to be a strength.

* So much for getting to the line more quickly.

Romo had to burn a timeout during the first drive when the offense couldn’t get set in time.&#160 (And again in the 2Q.)

* Pitch & catch with Leftwich and the TB receivers

And Jenkins & Scandrick were supposed to be co-starters???

* Flozell Adams costs us a first down and a possession with Yet Another Penalty&#153

The most penalized player in the NFL over the last two seasons does it again with a personal foul in the 2Q.&#160 We need to draft a tackle next year.

* There’s&#160 the Miles Austin we’ve been waiting to see!

Took a back-shoulder fade during the 1st-half two-minute drill, broke a tackle and strolled into the end zone.

* Terrance Newman can’t cover shit

Allowed a 47-yard catch that nearly cost us a field goal at the end of the half (fortunately, the TB kicker pushed it wide right).&#160 In fact, he hasn’t defensed shit all damned day long.&#160 None of them have (see previous note).

* Terrell who?

This “spread the wealth” passing offense seems to agree with our Brett Favre-wannabe, as three different receivers have caught TD passes of 40 or more yards.

This week:&#160 5-1.&#160 Overall:&#160 8-3.

The PFW will return Friday, cringing horribly at what awaits the Yellow Jackets.
