[Scene:  the bridge of Pegasus.  Everybody, and I do mean everybody,  is lounging around, looking bored out of their skulls.]
LSIK&T:  Check the schedule again, McCool.
OZY MCCOOL:  M’Liege, I’ve already checked it 14…
[His Rudeness’ Klingon-Vulcan hybrid XO, Korrioth, backhands Ozymandias McCool, sending him spinning & sprawling to the deck.]
KORRIOTH:  Check it again, Lieutenant Whelp.
OZY MCCOOL (groggily):  Uh…confirmed Captain…m’Lord:  The University of Buffalo is the only PFW team playing this week.
MERLIN:  Akron is playing the Bulls at Buffalo.  Turner Gill’s bunch is a one-point favorite.
LSIK&T:  And that’s it???
MERLIN:  Yes, m’Lord.  Heights, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU and the Cowboys are all off this weekend.
LSIK&T:  Great Honkin’ Cthulu™.
T-BONE MCMANX:  Hey, m’Liege, you could go off for a weekend with the Dockmistress™.
LSIK&T (eyeing Merlin warily):  I thought I told you to tell the bridge crew about that.
MERLIN (looking panicked):  Uh…sorry, Your Snarlyness, I confess that it slipped my mind…
[A look of realization hits Merlin’s face, as if suddenly remembering something very  important.  The look is not  missed by the King & Tyrant™.]
LSIK&T:  Merlin?  She’s still there, isn’t she?  They’re both  still there, aren’t they?!?!?!
MERLIN:  (gulp!!!)
LSIK&T:  (sigh)  I’d commend you for the torture, Wizard, but I wanted to be rid of this problem a long time ago.
MERLIN (hangs head in shame):  Yes, m’Lord.
LSIK&T:  Awright, everyone.  To the airlock.
(To be continued…)
Okay, guys, I’ll be back Sunday – or hell, maybe even Saturday night – for the recap of the ONE GAME ON THE PFW SCHEDULE THIS WEEKEND…!!!1~
In the meantime – has anyone seen the Humble DevilDog???

Yeah, yeah, I’m here.
Just been sulking after Bucky’s season suddenly derailed. (plus, I’ve been doing the most emotionally draining thing I’ve ever done in my life: looking for another job. I *hate* filling out applications. I get nauseous just looking at them. Every other part of the process doesn’t bother me.)
Anyway, Bucky’s playing a rejuvenated Indiana Hoosier team this week. The last time Bucky played a rejuvenated team from a state beginning with “I”, they lost (Illinois), so, I’ll be holding my breath through much of the game. The strength of Bucky’s team under Coach Alvarez (the defense) seems to be in the Witness Protection Program, while the offense is much more explosive, but, can’t sustain clock-eating drives with power running (another Alvarez staple). All that being said, if Bucky can end the season with 3 losses and a Jan 1 bowl game, I guess I can’t really complain. Due to Big Ten revenue sharing, as long as Bucky gets to a bowl game, they’ll get a share of Ohio State’s BCS bowl money (last year, each BCS bowl game paid out $17,000,000. The next highest payout out of the BCS was $4,000,000.)
Speaking of the Big Ten and bowl games…Michigan is proving, right now, two of the biggest complaints about opinion polling: lose early, and wear the right laundry. Several years ago, the Nebraska Children of the Corn (The “N” stands for “Knowledge”!) lost two games early in their season, and ran the table to play in the National Championship game…even though both early losses were to Big XII opponents! That’s right, Nebraska played in the National Championship game after it was the THIRD best team in its own conference! Michigan is trying to repeat a similar feat.
If I told you that a major football power would start the season ranked #5, lose its first home game to a 1-AA school, and then, get humiliated at home to a team from a traditional rival conference, and THEN, get ANY votes for the rest of the year, much less enough to make it into a Top 25 poll ANYWHERE that didn’t include the words “Biggest Disappointments”, you’d have me checked for insanity, right?
Michigan lost early, and has the right laundry. Wisconsin lost two games to quality opponents in conference, and Michigan is ahead of them. If Michigan makes it to a Jan 1 bowl or even *shudder* a BCS Bowl, you can expect, and will receive, a staggering amount of outrage from me.
