(Idle thought:&#160 Whaddya wanna bet this doesn’t get 10% of the coverage Larry Craig got?)

Item:&#160 John-boy “Silky Pony” Edwards was honored as “Father Of The Year” in 2007 from some goofy outfit called the “Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council”.

Item:&#160 Today, our 2007 “Father Of The Year” admitted to an extramarital affair.

It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry.

Why not just admit that you’re fucking inadequate as a man and be done with it?

In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic.

That is to say, more spay-shul, more egocentric and more narcissistic than you already were, right?

If you want to beat me up – feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself.

Oh, ho ho ho hooooo, you wanna bet?&#160 Do you honestly wanna put some money on that, Smedley?&#160 Is that a challenge&#160 I hear in your Silky Pony voice?&#160

I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

You can start by putting your clothes back on, John-boy.

Particularly yer pants.&#160

  1. David Hartung says:

    His words speak of repentance.

As a Christian, it is my responsibility to forgive.

He still must demonstrate to those who trusted him, that he is once again worthy of that trust. Trust betrayed, is that much harder to regain.

Time will tell if he is truly repentant.

  2. His words speak of repentance.

David, all&#160 politicians’ words speak of repentance when they’re first caught.&#160 Eight years of Kaiser Wilhelm von Skirtchaser and decades&#160 of Teddy the Red-Nosed Senator&#153 should have convinced you of that.

As a Christian, it is my responsibility to forgive.

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree.&#160 But since neither one of us were really within the scope of his offense, is it really necessary?&#160 I’m not offended, were you?&#160 What he did didn’t affect me inthe slightest.

  3. HDD says:

OK, I’m sure Spats didn’t want this to turn into a theological discussion, but, since it’s already been broached, here goes…

David, you’re right, insofar as being obligated to forgive, as a Christian. BUT, where you’re so far wrong that you *almost* have to be trying to be that wrong is in whether or not we should forgive The Breck Girl for his transgressions.

We’re not the aggrieved party. His infidelity didn’t affect us. We suffered no slight nor injury due to his actions. Not only are we not obligated to forgive him, in this instance, it’s not even our RIGHT to forgive him. Heck, we don’t even have the OPTION to forgive him! His WIFE does.

Read the Bible carefully. You will find NO references towards forgiving those who have done nothing to you. You’ll find NO reference towards forgiving those who commit transgressions of a public nature. You’ll find NO references towards forgiveness negating any Earthly ramifications for the action. You will find NO commands to tell another to forgive.

The only things you will find in the Bible concerning forgiveness are either in relation to you and God, or you and those around you. The Bible is the ultimate treatise on personal RESPONSIBILITY, personal BEHAVIOR, and personal RELATIONS.

Remember, the Bible says to forgive those who commit crimes against you. It does NOT say the criminal won’t be punished for their crimes. Quite the opposite, actually. The Bible only says you’re supposed to bear no ill will towards the criminal in the future…or, to phrase it another way, to forgive them.

Silky Pony made his bed, now, he can lie in it. Since his transgression didn’t affect me, I’m going to keep not forgiving him for what he HAS done to me, for which he has done the opposite of repentance. He’s actually trying to make his crimes WORSE.

It feels all nice and good to forgive someone for something…especially when it doesn’t actually mean you have to do anything. In this case, forgiving him is a meaningless gesture. Unless you’re his wife.

I’m not touching that bet, Spats. If it gets 5% of the coverage it would be nearly a miracle.

And HDD, you’re right that we should forgive others for what they do to us and that we cannot forgive them for the things they do to others. But at the same time, we also shouldn’t be taking vengeance on him for what he’s done to others either. I’d almost prefer that this DID die a quick death. At least he (unlike those “evil rethuglicans”) would get what every person caught in similar circumstances deserves: a chance to apologize and then disappear. But unfortunately, he probably WON’T disappear, and so this will almost certainly come up again.

I just wish he’d apologize for all the other crap he’s pulled, like his “two Americas” bull crap that he spewed.

  5. David Hartung says:

    Robert,

Because of his status as a public figure, one could make the argument that Edward’s indiscretion wronged us all. It is in that spirit that I feel that I can offer forgiveness.

My other point is still valid. Edwards must demonstrate to those who once trusted him, that he is once gain worthy of trust.

  6. HDD says:

Once again, you’ll find no Biblical justification for saying a public figure did us any wrong by being a lout. The things that Silky Pony did as a government entity and lawyer DID affect us, and for those things, he has yet to apologize, express regret, repent, or even try to slow down. THOSE are the things we can forgive him for…right about the time he admits he was wrong to be a Socialist/Communist tool, and to sue doctors for their patients’ children having genetic disorders.

Everything else, ain’t our place to forgive.

For the record, my biggest beef with the Breck Girl over this is that, once again, I am forced to pay attention to the prima donna. My general policy on liberals, and especially liberal politicians, is to ignore them long enough for them to go away. I was quite happy to forget that Silky Pony even existed, much having to know that he had an affair. For that, I won’t forgive him, until he GOES AWAY!

  7. […] And now the latest fake appears to be with the Chinese “women’s” gymnastic team. Or should we say “little girl’s” and not women’s. Seems that the Chinese, given their supposed mastery of things like simple math, don’t know the difference between 16 and 13. Even worse, it looks like the IOC is gonna give a pass on this atrocity…..much like the lame-swine media has passed on digging up the dirt on Breck Boy. […]

Mozilla Firefox doesn't do too badly, either; in fact, it's His Rudeness' browser of choice.
