In one of Shrubya’s last official acts before he leaves (and, thank God, takes his “compassionate” form of conservatism with him), he changed a policy allowing CCW in most national parks:
The Bush administration Friday announced a new policy allowing people to carry concealed firearms in nearly every national park and wildlife refuge.
The move changes a nearly 25-year-old policy that only permitted firearms to be carried in areas of parks that are specifically designated for hunting and target practice.
According to the Department of Interior, the new rules apply to national parks and refuges located in states that allow people to carry concealed weapons, and a person carrying a concealed weapon must have proper authorization from the state where the park or refuge is located.
In fact, they’re kinda-sorta dancing a jig over at the Rott right now.
Now, I hate to be the one to piss in everyone’s Cheerios…

if you so desire - but why in blazes would you want to use a browser from a company that had to hide behind Janet El Reño's skirt to be successful?
And don't even get me started on Opera or Chrome. I'm not about to trust any browser that won't let me change its color scheme.
The benefit, however minor, of enacting this new policy as President Bush is heading out of office is that the incoming president will have to spend time and effort, however little, on overturning the policy.
Senator Obama, no matter how much people believe otherwise, is still limited to the same number of hours in the day as the rest of us. If he’s undoing this policy, he might actually run out of time later on to enact other, more onerous policies.
It’s a small victory, but, a victory none-the-less. At this point, we should take ’em where we can get ’em. There aren’t going to be that many in the next four, or more, years. I still will not be surprised if, in four years, then-President Obama tries to suspend the presidential election, due to some ‘crisis’ that needs his continued attention. It’s happened in Venezuela, New York City, Russia, Zimbabwe…the list goes on and on.
Cuba, Mexico, being attempted but failing badly in Cannuckia, seemingly every country in the mid-east, and of course North Korear.
Not that I’m a CCW person myself, but I will have to agree with you HDD that a victory is a victory none-the-less. Cause anyone who props up a no-authority stunt like “Office of the President-elect” ain’t lookin’ to give up that kinds of power easily…..or very quickly.
