Misha has a great piece on the true nature of the ACLU that you should go read.

One wonders what Dr. Herb Gamiscut (recent commenter to the Realm&#153) would think of Wiccan prayers being okay, but other prayers being a bit too Christian for some folks’ taste…

   Actually, if one bothers to read the press release or the complaint itself (which effort, clearly, Lord Spatula has not bothered to make), one finds that the ACLU claims the commission is in violation of several sections of both the US and Georgia Constitutions.

   Now, whether that is in fact the case is a matter for the courts to decide. That’s how such matters are determined in this country — not, as Misha suggests, by physical assault.

   By the way, you fled from our earlier discussion. I expect that ultimately you will do the same here.

   And I should waste time out of my day to go read the methane-filled bleatings of a known organization of anti-Christian bigots…why again, Doctor?

   The ACLU would no doubt claim that a “God bless you” after a sneeze violates “several sections of…the US…constitution”, so what’s your point, exactly?&#160 The ACLU can claim what it wants, but that and a buck-fifty will get you a cup of coffee.

   Now, whether that is in fact the case is a matter for the courts to decide. That’s how such matters are determined in this country — not, as Misha suggests, by physical assault.

   Doctor, what you fail to understand is that is actually for the various state legislatures to decide, not the courts.&#160 The legislative decides, through passage of law, “such matters” – the judiciary’s only role is to interpret the Constitution.&#160 Period, end, stop.

   And the courts’ authority is limited, since Congress can pass laws to limit the courts’ jurisdiction. (It’s in the Constitution – look it up.)

   If the courts continue to attempt to usurp a governmental role that isn’t theirs, they are running an increased risk of the people whom they continue to tyrannize rising up and taking action.&#160 And that’s all Misha’s saying, and I agree with him on the point.

   By the way, you fled from our earlier discussion. I expect that ultimately you will do the same here.

   I announced that I was tired of proving the point I was making and having you stick figurative fingers in your ears while figuratively singing “la la la I can’t heeeeeear youuuuuuuu!!!!”, and explicitly stated that I was giving you the last word in the thread.

   You should consider yourself fortunate that I even allowed you to do that.&#160 I could’ve deleted your last comment and moved on, but I didn’t – did I???
