In this frenzied era of new stadiums for football teams, the Noo Joisey Football Giants and the Noo Joisey J-E-T-S JetsJetsJets! have agreed on new digs of their own.
The New York Giants and Jets agreed Thursday to build a stadium in the Meadowlands that would become the first NFL venue to be owned and operated by two teams.
The facility will be built near state-owned Giants Stadium, which is currently home to both teams and is among the league’s oldest stadiums.
Specific details about the stadium plan are to be developed over the next several months, including its new name. The teams plan to put the naming rights up for bid.
Oh, I can see it now:  “Sopranos Stadium at the Meadowlands, featuring Hoffa Field”.
On to the PFW.  My Arlington Heights Yellow Jackets will have one of their toughest tests tonight at 7:30 against the Western Hills Cougars.  This game invariably comes down to a field goal or less, and I expect nothing different here.
The Horned Frogs of TCU are at home Saturday against the New Mexico Lobos in what could be the game for the Mountain West Conference championship.  It’ll come down to which TCU secondary shows up – the brick wall that shut down Utah, or the Swiss Cheese Brigade™ that tiptoed past Brigham Young.
Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma Sooners welcome the Kansas State Wildcats to Norman for a Saturday evening Big XII matchup.  Darren Sproles is no longer there to terrorize the Sooner secondary, but this game is still not a gimme.  OU in a squeaker.
Fourth-ranked LSU (how’d they manage only dropping one spot in the polls after choking against Tennessee?) travels to Mississippi State tomorrow for an afternoon tilt.  If Les Miles is worth his salt as a coach, and LSU is of a mind to take out last week’s loss against the next opponent, MSU is in trouble.  But we’ll see.
Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys have their second of two straight games in the Bay area, this time against Th’ Raaaiiiiiduhhhs  of Oakland.  Al Davis would be better served sending his rabid fan base out against the Boys, but just watch:  Oakland has Randy Moss – and Moss traditionally torches the Cowboys.  Sad to say, I have to pick Oakland to get its first victory this year in a big way.
We’re back Monday for the recap.

BUCKY BADGER RULES!
Seriously, after Wisconsin’s incredible victory last week, over the hated Michigan Wolverines, I’m starting to think that Bucky just might be for real. We’ll find out, in three more Saturdays, when Bucky flies up to Minneapolis/St Paul, to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (the “Humptydome”, to those in the know…), and plays the Golden Gophers of Minnesota, in what will likely be the game that decides the lead in the Big Ten, or, at least, who will be sharing in the lead. Before then, though, Bucky has to play the Hosers of Indiana this week. Indiana is a team that isn’t real good, but, they give better teams some real troubles.
My beloved Packers just…flat out stink. They have the same old quarterback, the same fumbling running back, the same porous offensive line, the same revolving door defense, the same stupid head coach, and the same whiny brat at wide receiver. Just how were they expecting to get any better in the offseason?! After listening to the past three Packer games, I’m going to have to revise my assessment of how the Pack is going to end the year. I thought they were going to end the season no better than 7-9. Now, I think they’ll be really lucky to win six games. Really lucky.
They have to play better than .500 to even finish the year at 6-10, and I just don’t see how they can.
Odd.  I didn’t think their offensive line was all that bad last year.
Problem is, they lost both  their starting guards to free agency this year, and the replacements aren’t that great – meaning Ahman can’t go up the middle as well as he could in years past.  And when you flood the middle on a pass rush…well, Brett himself has admitted he’s not as nimble afoot as he used to be.
The way they’re playing, I think 6-10 is optimistic myself.
Re:  the Badgers.  Barry’s got ’em going this year.  I’m very impressed.
Spats, I hope ya got picture-in-a-picture: Two games to watch at the same time today!
Texas @ Mo, noon eastern ABC
Baylor ‘n A&M, 12:30 FSN.
My Vols ain’t even ON tv this week, so I have to Hoist a cold one with ya watchin’ Texas ball.
BTW, I don’t think LSU choked, I think they palyed fairly well all the way through, which is why they only dropped one. There was just two different Tennessee teams – For some damn fool reason, throughout the Fulmer era, Tennessee (the OTHER UT) always manages to go behind one, two, or, as we saw Monday Night, THREE touchdowns before they start to play ball (who ever though that a College team would be the best show on Monday Night Football?)
Fortunately, Ol’ Miss should be an easy game (nojinxnojinxnojinx)…
Lesson the First:
Do not EVER tell a Quarterback named Vick “You can’t run on US! We dare ya’!” Either one will make you eat yer words. If you hear your offensive line talking this smack, bench them. Can’t hurt any more than pissing him off…
Lesson the Second:
Do not try to predict the Michigan/Michigan State game. No future in it. Don’t matter who is ranked. These teams REALLY don’t like each other.
Lesson the Third:
Don’t play LSU 5 days after they lose in OT. It won’t be purty.
Lesson the Fourth:
Don’t bring weak shit and an attitude to Tuscaloosa. You won’t bring both home.
If I was Sylvester Croom, I was cringing after LSU-Tennessee.  And I’d’ve been right, too.
Yeah, looks like the Urban Meyer Express™ kinda hit a penny on the tracks and derailed a bit, eh what? (snicker)
