I’d opine at length about the Harriet Miers nomination for the Soprano Supreme Court – but Misha beat me to the punch yet again.

I will say this, though:&#160 We already know that she’s in favor of having an International Criminal Court, with all the resulting surrender of our national sovereignty that implies – and that she has no problem giving heterophobes the same rights as heterosexuals (and please, people, don’t insult my intelligence – we all know that the people who foisted this questionnaire on her wanted her to say, in effect, that it was okay for sodomites to marry, okay?).

Given these two items alone, I’m even more against this nominee than I was against Roberts.&#160 And, given that far more qualified and ideologically satisfactory women,&#160 let alone men, are out there for Bush to have nominated – then yes, count me in with those who feel betrayed yet again&#160 by the Party of Stupid&#153.

Memo to Ken Mehlman:&#160 I have no qualms with staying home, not only in ’06, but in ’08 as well.&#160 Get that through your thick-assed head before it’s too late.

UPDATE:&#160 Hmmm.&#160 It appears as though one of our sources has some lines crossed.

The SpatulaGoddess brings to our attention that the document on which Worldnetdaily bases its article is merely a list of potential&#160 agenda items, not a report in and of itself – and that any ABA member could put something on that list if they so desired.

Drilling down a little further, WND reports that

As a city councilwoman, Miers also said Dallas had a responsibility to pay for AIDS education and patient services. And she courted the support of the Lesbian/Gay Coalition of Dallas in her successful 1989 campaign

when in fact, the PDF of the form specifically shows that she did not&#160 seek these heterophobes’ endorsement.

Would seem to be a little bit of New York Slime-ish reporting on the part of WND.&#160 One hopes that’s the exception, rather than the rule.

Note that this doesn’t necessarily change my opinion of Harriet Miers.&#160 I’d still rather see Janice Rogers Brown in that spot.

But when an error is respectfully&#160 pointed out to me, I’ve no problem making a correction.&#160 Some folks here still don’t seem to have figured that out just yet…

In my opinion, the jury is still out on Roberts. My biggest concern with Miers is that so many Democrats seem to like her. At this point, we will just have to wait and see how things play out.

On the subject of sitting out the election, given who Mississippi will probably be running, that is a definite possibility for me. I believe that Lott will be up for re-election, and when he became a willing part og the Slick Willie show trial, I promised myself that I would never vote for him again. My Congress critter is another story, I still haven’tr decided if Roger Whicker is worth another term.

  2. Maybe it’s time for the “New Federalists” in the Republican Party to become the “Federalist Party” ……….

Um… hate to ruin your argument, but she did NOT come out in favor of the international court and homosexual rights. In 1999, she submitted a “potential agenda items” report for an ABA meeting, with those two items on it. Any delegate could request that their pet item be added to that report. These were not HER pet projects… she just put them all together in report form. Not quite the same thing.

I’m not thrilled with this nomination. Don’t get me wrong. I’m just not ready to toss her because she wasn’t a judge first. We’ll see during the hearings if she really is qualified.

I went to church with Harriet Miers.

While I would not have named her my first choice, these screams of betrayal are way over the top.

Mozilla Firefox doesn't do too badly, either; in fact, it's His Rudeness' browser of choice.
You can  use Nutscrape,  if you so desire - but why in blazes would you want to use a browser from a company that had to hide behind Janet El Reño's skirt to be successful?

And don't even  get me started on Opera or Chrome.  I'm not about  to trust any browser that won't let me change its color scheme.
