It’s been a damned good week to be a conservative, y’know?
First, we had Scott Brown’s unlikely win in the Massachusetts Senate race on Tuesday.
Then Thursday, the Supreme Court pretty much eviscerated McRINO-Feingold.
The decision reverses a 1990 ruling by the court that allowed the government to bar corporations and unions from spending general treasury funds on ads expressly urging a candidate’s election or defeat. And it overruled part of a 2003 decision that upheld restrictions on independent corporate expenditures enacted the preceding year in the seminal campaign finance overhaul act known as McCain-Feingold.
Naturally, the libtards are bitching – which is why it’s a good thing.
Fred Wertheimer, a longtime advocate of McCain-Feingold, called today’s ruling “the most radical and destructive campaign finance decision in Supreme Court history” and said the court’s majority had “abandoned longstanding judicial principles, judicial precedents and judicial restraint.”
The authors of the law, Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), expressed disappointment in the ruling, with Feingold calling it “a terrible mistake.”
“Ah.  Victory.  It has a sweet  taste.”  -Trelane
And to top it all off…Air Scaremerica had the proverbial fork stuck in ’em.
Air America Radio, a radio network that was launched in 2004 as a liberal alternative to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative commentators, on Thursday shut down abruptly due to financial woes.
The network once boasted hosts such as Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, but struggled from the outset, including multiple management shake-ups, a bankruptcy in 2006 and sale for $4.25 million the following year.
Air America ceased airing new programs Thursday afternoon and said it will soon file to be liquidated under Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It began broadcasting reruns of programs and would end those as well Monday night.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of turds, eh?
Wasn’t too long ago that the Left was crowing about the impending implosion & extinction of the Right.  “Nobody likes you”, they were saying.  “A regional, backwoods party, only viable in the racist South”, they were bleating.
Funny thing about crow.  Lot more fun to do it than it is to eat  it.

You make a good point my friend, but please do not make the mistake of assuming that Senator Brown is any sort of conservative. If you look at his record, it is really quite liberal.
Not hardly, sir.  I harbor no wet dreams about Massachusetts turning bright cherry red all of a sudden from the most midnight of blues just because of Scott Brown.
Not in a state where three out of every four people are leftist, socialist PsOS.  In a state that just turned thumbs down on BambiCare because they already had RomneyCare (IOW, the exact same thing), a state that kept sending Teddy the Red Nosed Senator™ back time & time again despite incontrovertible evidence that he was guilty of manslaughter (if not outright murder) and sexual assault God knows how  many times over, Scott Brown had to appeal to them for a reason.
Or – to put a finer point thereupon – he had to not repulse  them for a reason.
On the contrary, my comfort is taken in that he is not  Teddy Kennedy – or Martha Coakley, for that matter.  Sometimes you have to be content with what you get.
Besides – and you could make this a sermon point OneOfTheseDays™ – if God didn’t want him there, he wouldn’t be  there.  Right?
Once again, I’m going to reserve judgment until the Republicans prove to me that they’re not going to screw y’all (I’m not a Republican, nor have I ever been a Republican. Strangely, the last political party I felt aligned to was the Democrat Party, and I was a little leery of them, since I considered them a bit too conservative…I’ve changed a bit since then.) again. Quick, name the last three Republican Party presidential candidates, on the actual national presidential ballot (meaning they had to actually be the national candidate, not a candidate in the primaries), who was, at the very least, as conservative as Ronald Reagan (who wasn’t *that* conservative. Yes, he was conservative, and acceptably so, but, he was no uber-conservative.). I’ve been coming the records, and you have to go back almost 100 years to find 3. Think about that. 3 conservative candidates in 100 years. By comparison, count back to the last three Democrat candidates (same rules as above) who were at least as liberal as Franklin Roosevelt. Um…the last three candidates.
The Republican Party isn’t as conservative as people think (I’m speaking of the party itself, not individual members), and most (not all) of its political heroes aren’t as conservative as Republicans like to believe. Their first President ran a campaign, and governed, on a platform of total disregard for the law and Constitution…and many Republicans, including Rush, *BRAG* about some of the blatantly illegal and unConstitutional acts that Lincoln did. So, once I became a conservative, the Republican Party wasn’t exactly my first choice.
HDD, I tend to agree. I am watching with great interest the progress of the tea partiers. I understand that they are raising money and recruiting candidates. These folks are looking for candidates who truly believe in limited government. If they ca get a few folks elected, this nation may actually have a fighting chance. If not, if the People elect the same old tired nanny state folks as have been put in to office the past 40 or so years, then it is all over but the shouting.
Darth, I make it a point not to be political in my sermons, but you are correct. Those in leadership are there because God has allowed them to be there. Christians should pray for them. My consistent prayer is that God will grant them the faith and wisdom they need, and that all their decisions will be pleasing to Him.
There is nothing unBiblical about being political in your sermons. The Bible tells us that Right is Right, and Wrong is Wrong, and that there are certain non-negotiable social beliefs to hold. In addition, it is Biblically impossible to be both a Liberal and a Christian, and anyone who tries to argue otherwise is a Liberal, not a Christian.
And, um…while I’m not going to put anything past the Big Ranger, it’s highly unlikely, bordering on impossible, that Obama is ever going to conform to your prayers. Just sayin’. God can certainly change Obama’s mind, BUT, Obama would first have to be inclined towards doing His Will, which Obama is not. At least, not at this time. The Big Man Upstairs can certainly change Obama’s mind any time He feels like it.
As usual, with all respect…did I mention anything about being a Republican?
Yes, I’m fully aware that the GOP is going to screw us.  Twice a day, and thrice on Sunday if they can get away with it.
Our fight is a loooooong  way from being begun, to say nothing about over.  All I’m saying is that we (conservatives) had a good week.
Probably a good idea.  The Wrong Irreverend Barry Lynn might come try and rap your knuckles otherwise, and I’d have to come to Mississippi to intervene.
And you don’t have the $$$$ to bail me out on the manslaughter charge.
In this state, it might not be a problem, even in this college town, folks seem to have little use for the current crowd of political hacks. 🙂
You could well wind up being hailed as a hero!
Hey! How do I do a block quote in a comment?
I’m confused, but then that is a common occurrence. 🙂
David, the key is this: (blockquote)(/blockquote)
Now, what you want to do is replace the parentheses () with the left-right carets (or, if you prefer, the less-than/greater-than signs) so that you have “< blockquote >” and “< /blockquote >” (minus the spaces, of course).
Lastly, place your blocked text in-between the two, and voila:
Does that help any?
Seems to have worked. No all I have to do is to remember! 🙂
No worries, Dave.  I’ll always give you whatever help you need on it.
It works in posts, too, BTW. 🙂
