Well, Acidman, old boy, to use your own words – if Terri’s level of sentience doesn’t meet with your standards…then LOWER YOUR STANDARDS.  Who the hell do you think you are, anyway?

it’s one thing to have an opinion. it’s another to lash out at people you don’t know–either acidman or michael schiavo.
There is intelligent commentary and then there’s this from you.
Written law must usually pass the test of the Constitution, the foundation of our government and these applicable laws seem to have passed. The Declaration of Independence is a nice document to feel good an patriotic about but that’s all it is.
When a spectacular example of what is deemed by some as a tragic example of the results of this law creates this notoriety everyone completely forgets the very important and valuable rights these laws protect. Then they want to carve out some of those protections.
You can call Mr. Shiavo anything you want, it’s your blog. I’m guessing if someone called you something as vile to your face you wouldn’t have the guts to strike back.
You should take the time to read the report of the court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem for Terri Schiavo. Michael may not be an exemplary human being (let he who is without sin, etc.) but from all indications, he did everything he could vis à vis rehabilitation, medical care, etc., until it became hopeless.
It’s sad that this case has become a pissing contest between Terri’s husband and her parents – a big “he said, she said” fight – and the religious folks among us, some with the best of intentions, are using it for their own political ends.
We have a rule of law in this country, and those laws have been followed. Under the law, Michael is regarded as the person best empowered to know what Terri’s wishes are. Her parents, sadly, lost their daughter years ago and have been chasing false hope – for that I can’t blame them, but enough is enough.
And (for once) I’m in agreement with Acidman. This is not the business of the government. It is family business, and like it or not, Michael is family. If you want to redefine marriage, or if you want laws to be written on an ad hominem basis, you’re really asking to live in a very different country.
I disagree with Acidman about this case too, but I ain’t delinking him.
Even the one link I have taken down because of this issue is only temporarily gone, because the author of the blog in question is taking the “I don’t know enough to have an opinion, but…” B.S. line.
You won’t ever see Acidman doing that. Heh.

I have been reading Rob off and on for a couple of years. I don’t agree with him on everything, but I do find him dead on, on others. He’s always come across as a basically honest, if hard headed guy. This is one of those issues that I don’t agree with him on. I realize he has a right to his opinion and I’m not going to call him a dick or stupid because we don’t see eye to eye.
I will tell you this, back some time ago I got into a similiar dispute with a fellow blogger. It was all over politics. Me being a pussy-liberal-moonbat, and him being a right-wingnut-neocon. There was a whole lot of pissing going on, he blocked me from commenting on his blog, and de-linked me. The funny thing was in the end I realized his blocking my from commenting and delinking me didn’t really bother me at all. What bothered me was a lot of good people got drawn into the middle of it. All for nothing.
People have a right to their opinions. If everybody had the same thoughts and feelings what a boring world we’d be living in. It is only through open discussion can we have true communication. If you limit yourself to only those who agree with you, your going to miss out on the best part of blogging. You don’t really want a bunch of hell-yeah’s do you? This post alone is proof of how good it gets when people get passionate.

I was trying to say that I agree with you fully about the Terri Schiavo incident. I posted on Rob’s site quite forcefully to defend the right of the Feds to be involved, citing both the 14th and 5th amendments, not to mention the gross moral outrage that killing an innocent human being represents. I obviously do not agree with Rob’s views, and I have made that fact very clear.
But…
That being said, I have no need to threaten someone with, much less cause someone physical harm just because I don’t agree with them. That is simply infantile, and I merely proved that you are being childish by calling you a pussy. I must admit, you rose to the bait quite nicely. I don’t presume to be God, nor does He need my help with sorting this mess out. I am sure He has a special place in hell for all of those involved with the death of this innocent woman.
