Once again I say, IT’S THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I don’t there’s much more of a song that could be more contemplative and reverent given the locale!!! Except maybe “God Bless America”. I’d love to see how that one would have gone over….then again, I’m sure it’s planned for the rally.

General, While I share your amazement, I also have to wonder about the situation. While it has been years since I last visited the Lincoln Memorial, it seems that to limit such things as singing in the interior of the memorial may be very appropriate. This (in theory) should foster an environment conducive to contemplation.
I think that what I am saying, is that perhaps the kids in question should have followed the instructions of park personnel and moved the 25 feet and done their singing.
What concerns me more than the fact that the kids were told not to sing is this idea that the space inside a memorial to one of our nation’s greatest presidents, is supposed to be “content neutral”
What on earth is “content neutral”?
If it means that overt displays of a love for our nation are forbidden, then we have a definite problem. The context of the article is somewhat ambiguous on this statement, which is itself of concern. I learned years ago that when a government official says something that is ambiguous, the actual meaning is almost always bad for liberty loving American citizens.
David, we both are smart enough to know what “content neutral” means. Yes, it’s still horseshit all the same. And it’s just another stab to our liberties as AMERICAN citizens.
For one though, I am looking forward to the 828 rally and to see how much the burying-their-face-in-the-groin lapdog Lame Stink media tries to down spin the whole event.
