As we kick off yet another quest for a Perfect Football Weekend™, we are alerted to this story about passing-game coach Todd Haley of the Dallas C’boys and his family’s experience at a Mickey D’s.  Seems his wife and her nanny purchased a salad from one, brought it home, and upon beginning to eat it found a dead rat T.O. inside.  (Apologies to rats.)  The Haleys have filed suit.
This oughta be good.  Pass the popcorn.
On to the PFW.  My Arlington Heights Yellow Jackets are guaranteed not to lose tonight.  Might have something to do with the fact they don’t play.
Saturday, the TCU Horned Frogs have their Homecoming game against the Wyoming Cowboys.  Usually you schedule homecoming games against the Little Sisters of the Poor, but UC-Davis wouldn’t reschedule.
The Frogs are favored by 6½ for this game, but I don’t buy that for a second.  Give me TCU & 14.  Seven if Marcus Jackson starts.
Also Saturday, the 19th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners travel to Columbia to take on Chase Daniel and the Mizzou Tigers.  OU’s favored by 2½, and I wonder what OU team Vegas has been watching.  This is gonna be a pitch-and-catchfest for Mizzou.  Give me OU and 21.
Turner Gill should find the moron who made this 2006 scheduled for the UBuffalo Bulls – and wring his neck.  The Bulls travel to Boston College Saturday to play sacrificial lamb to the War Eagles.  The line is 35½ – and I’m guessing the final score will be more brutal than that.  Gimme UB and 47.
Sunday night, the Tony Romo era officially begins for the C’boys as they travel to Carolina to get their heads handed to them by the Panthers.  I’ve got my fingers crossed that Dallas can keep it close, but Carolina is not  the team against whom you want to initiate the learning curve.  Carolina’s favored by 5 at home; I think it’ll be at least 13.
We’re back Monday for the recap.  In the meantime, perhaps LC John Wardle and the Humble Devildog could debate on who’d win between Bucky and the Redskins…
UPDATE:  Oops.  Forgot to mention LSU.
Understandable – they didn’t play, either.

Well I couldn’t care less about the college stuff, but I have to wonder why you don’t comment on the other NFL games. I mean, favorite team and all is one thing, but surely if you know Carolina is so good you know more than you tell us…
Although frankly I’m not so sure Carolina is all that good. They aren’t *bad* of course, especially with Smith back. But *that* good, I’m not so sure about. They got by the Saints on a “catch” that wasn’t and a prayer. They shouldn’t have won that one. They got their arses handed to them by the Bungles and the Bungles weren’t even playing all that well (though they were at least better than the PREVIOUS two weeks… maybe the Bungles are going back into hiding and the Bengals are returning??)… They barely sqeaked by Baltimore… and they got killed by Atlanta before Atlanta even realized they actually knew how to pass as well. Speaking of which, I only like Atlanta for the moment because they took down the detested pittsfart theifs last week… Hip Hip Hooray!!
And I definately want to hear your (or at least SOMEBODY’S) opinion on Indy vs Denver and Chicago vs. the libtards… I’m trying to decide whether to play Peyton (who’s obviously the better player, but also the tougher game) or Rex in my FF league… advise anyone?
RH
Robert,
Okay, you asked for it.
Indy b. Denver: The smart money picks Indy, because A) Indy has a running game, and ain’t afraid to use it, B) Indy’s running game is what sets up Peyton’s passing game, since Peyton’s “signature” pass is a play-action pass…kinda hard to run play action passes when you don’t have a running game, C) Jake Plummer can’t win games for Denver, and Jay Cutler is a freakin rookie…Tony Dungy made his name chewing up rookie QBs and spitting them out. Denver will have to find another way to win against Indy…and their running game is non existent.
Chicago v. the Libtards: I wasn’t aware that Chicago was having any controversy. Dah Bears aren’t good enough to run the table. Arizona, while losing, proved that. If Denny Green hadn’t been teh coach of the Cards that day, Dah Bears would already have their first loss. Now, the first team to actually watch that game film will hand Dah Bears their first loss. While it’s too early to say for sure, I’m *almost* willing to bet Dah Bears won’t finish the season better than 12-4..which is still a pretty darn good season, but…a far cry from the 16-0 the stupid flatlanders are expecting them to do.
Bucky v. the Foreskins: Bucky by 10. Bucky has an offensive line, a punishing running back, a pretty darn good change-of-pace back, an efficient QB who doesn’t make mistakes, and a D that shuts down opposing teams WRs. In addition, Bucky has the least offensive owner in that game. Moscow-between-the-Lakes or Dan Snyder? Gimme Moscow. Madison has more sense than Snyder does. Besides, in the college game, an old player, used-up-his-eligibility player goes on the NFL. In the NFL, old, used-up-his-eligibility players get wheelbarrows of cash to play for Dan Snyder. Give Snyder another 3 years, and he’ll be mentioned in the same breath as Al Davis for “Dumbest Owner On the Face Of the Planet”.
If y’all are college football fans, clear your calender for November 18th. The way it looks now, Michigan will travel to the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio, undefeated, to play the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes for the game that will determine half the BCS championship game. There is even a scenario or two that has Michigan and Ohio State playing on Nov 18th, and then, playing their very next game in January against each other, again, for the national championship. They’re both that good. USC is a weak 3rd place team. Yes, they’re still good, but…this ain’t the Trojans of two years ago, or even last year. They’re good, but…not scary-good like they were. They’re just good. Good but beatable.
Another interesting BCS possibility is that the Hamburgers of Texas-Austin will get a rematch against the Buckeyes in the national championship game. I’m not sure the Buckeyes would win again. Of course, the way those two teams have looked these past two years, I don’t think either team could beat the other one twice in a row.
Due to the nightmare that is the BCS, I could get screwed out of seeing my Beloved Badgers play in San Antonio in the Alamo Bowl, since the winner of UM/OSU would NOT be considered the Big Ten champion…the loser would. So, the winner goes to the national championship, the loser ‘wins’ the Big Ten and plays in the Rose Bowl, and Bucky takes ‘2nd’ place…and the Alamo Bowl is for the 3rd or 4th place Big Ten team….Oh, well. It’s not like I have the money to splurge to pay for bowl game tickets. Of course, I *could* always hope that Bucky loses to Iowa, and takes 3rd behind the Fred Flinstones…
