All flags one the Southern Command HQ are hereby ordered to half staff, and are to remain so for the next seven days as we honor our fallen veteran Frank Woodruff Buckles.

He didn’t seek the spotlight, but when Frank Buckles outlived every other American who’d served in World War I, he became what his biographer called “the humble patriot” and final torchbearer for the memory of that fading conflict.

Buckles enlisted in World War I at 16 after lying about his age. He died Sunday on his farm in Charles Town, nearly a month after his 110th birthday. He had devoted the last years of his life to campaigning for greater recognition for his former comrades, prodding politicians to support a national memorial in Washington and working with friend and family spokesman David DeJonge on a biography.

Heaven is certainly one citizen bigger tonight. We here at the Southern Command salute our fallen soldier and ask that God now keep safe that which the earth has given up.

Almost sound like a new TV series title.

But this time it’s Gov. Walker, much like Chuck Norris did, prepping to give a good beatdown to a collection of absentee state senators instead of law-breaking criminals.

“Now they have one day to return to work before the state loses out on the chance to refinance debt, saving taxpayers $165 million this fiscal year,” Walker’s spokesman Cullen Werwie said in a statement.

Give them ONE WHOLE SECOND to be late, then I say it’s time to start the pink slips to flying!

“Failure to return to work and cast their votes will lead to more painful and aggressive spending cuts in the very near future,” the statement said.

Gov. Walker, I say you do that anyway….starting with the fourteen state senators who are currently AWOL. Send the statement that the buck stops here. Tell the puppet masters you do not play by their rules, you follow the Constitution and the rule of law.

There has been speculation that Walker would send out layoff notices to more than 1,000 state workers if no progress was made soon on the budget.

It’s obvious where the first 14 should come from….time to follow through.

It’s also obvious to anyone with a clue and/or an ounce of common sense, that if you or I failed to show up for work two weeks in a row without nary a peep, you’d damn sure have already gotten or about to have been given your walking orders. It’s absolutely asinine to let a publicly elected official get off like these senators have. They should 100% be FIRED!! Same goes for the bunch in Indiana who seem to have done the same thing.

God grant peace to our Founding Fathers, cause you know they’ve been rolling in their graves when they hear of what we have done to their glorious republic.

It helps, though, if you have Microsoft Internet Explorer  set about 1024x768 1280x1024 with your Favorites window activated on the left deactivated.  (At least until I can get a better handle on how WordPress works.)

(KORRIOTH:  Oh, great.  More wormholes.)

Mozilla Firefox doesn't do too badly, either; in fact, it's His Rudeness' browser of choice.
You can  use Nutscrape,  if you so desire - but why in blazes would you want to use a browser from a company that had to hide behind Janet El Reño's skirt to be successful?

And don't even  get me started on Opera or Chrome.  I'm not about  to trust any browser that won't let me change its color scheme.
